THANKS TO THE MAGNIFICENT EIGHT
All year long these men tend and care to our memorial
site. They give truly "Tender Loving Care". Just look at our
memorial and it is always in top notch condition. It does not
happen by itself. Our "Magnificent Eight", regardless of
weather conditions see to it. Lets us say Thank You for
a job WELL DONE . . .
Charlie Malone, Santo Fumando, Gene Bartell, Al Fowler,
Kenny Ackerman, Sal Assenza, Frank Flynn and George
Parsons.
S.I. Advance May 6, 01
. . . Troop 5 Boy Scouts of America, on Saturday May 5th,
gathered at our Korean War Memorial in Sunnyside and
did a beautification of the area. The troop worked on
Scout Jordan Dailey's Eagle project by presenting four
planters to the veterans and placing a plaque on a planter.
It reads, "This tree is like your commitment to your country,
everlasting." Our sincere thanks to Scout Troop # 5.
Public School # 6 has a name change. Will now be known
as "Cpl. Allan F. Kivlehan School. This is the first school in
New York City to be named after a Korean War Veteran.
Thanks to Dr. Kwak's suggestion. Dr. Syng Kwak will also
see to it that the "Rose of Sharon" is planted in an
appropriate location on the school grounds. (Rose of
Sharon, is the Korean National Flower)
